English language learners (ELLs) often have difficulty mastering content areas concepts, including  science, math, or social studies, because they cannot comprehend the reading and academic language. English Language Learners need and would benefit from explicit instruction of comprehension skills, vocabulary skills, and other skills. If we want all students to succeed we need to use different instructional strategies to help deepen our students' understanding and build our ELLs English proficiency and literacy,
